3D Realms, das Entwicklerstudio hinter Duke Nukem (und dem ewigen Vaporware-Gewinner Duke Nukem Forever) schließt seine Pforten. Wie Shacknews, Fudzilla und andere Medien berichten ist 3D Realms pleite und der Publisher Take 2 nicht bereit weiter Geld locker zu machen.

“We can confirm that our relationship with 3D Realms for Duke Nukem Forever was a publishing arrangement, which did not include ongoing funds for development of the title,” said Take-Two VP of communications Alan Lewis in a prepared statement.
“In addition, Take-Two continues to retain the publishing rights to Duke Nukem Forever,” he added.
Goodbye Duke Forever
Der das erste mal 1997 angekündigte Shooter Duke Nukem 3D wird damit wohl auch nicht rauskommen. Golem.de hat eine Bildergallerie mit ein paar Bildern die sich im laufe der Jahre zu Duke 4 gesammelt haben. Die Rechte an dem Titel trägt noch immer der Publisher Take 2, die Duke Nukem Spiele für Nintendo DS und die PSP sollen wie geplant erscheinen.
